Freshness on the air in France

A new generation of imaging for mainstream Adult Contemporary – it’s the recent  update for Oxygène, one of France’s most successful independent radio stations.  They recently commissioned PURE Jingles again to create custom audio branding.

Oxygène, ‘Radio de la Seine et Marne’, is listened to by more than 300,000 people in  Ile de France. It’s a family brand, focused on a core audience of young adults, mainly  25-49 year-olds. Following their massive custom package from 2021, they’ve called  on PURE to create a new batch of AC jingles.

Programming strategy

RTL 2 unveils the Pop-Rock AC sound of 2022

I Love Rock ’n’ Roll! One of the songs expressing exactly what RTL 2 stands for: the  best Pop-Rock of yesterday & today. They just received another batch of jingles to fit  the core of the format while reinforcing a modern image.

PURE’s client relation manager Thomas Giger explains: “Playing the greatest hits of  all time means that the overall music composition on the station is largely constant.  Our goal is to surround these timeless classics with a sound that naturally fits the  music played, but which at the same time keeps the radio station in the present. Jingles with good vibes for 100% NL

100% NL has completely renewed its audio branding with PURE Jingles. Positive  sounding AC jingles, matching ‘the best music of the Netherlands’ as the station’s positioning says.

“In order to keep up with new music trends, we want to regularly update the jingles,”  says Herbert Visser. Together with Carlo de Boer, he’s managing Dutch commercial  radio operator RadioCorp. “In November, PURE Jingles already contributed to the  launch of our soft-pop station Sunlite. The result of that good collaboration made  them the logical choice for us to also restyle our flagship.” Over 1 million listeners  tune in to 100% NL every week.

The new sound of Urban CHR: NPO FunX 2022

With a sound design update from PURE Jingles, the urban brand of Dutch public  broadcaster NPO is entering the sunny season of ’22. A trendsetting new package  for Urban Contemporary. 

As a mission for his brand, program director Niels Hoogland speaks of connecting  the youth and giving them a voice. “Our target group is part of the ‘urban culture’, a  mix of influences and backgrounds. Their differences are seen as an enrichment.” 

“FunX has a recognisable, unique and positive sound: that of the ‘generation of the  future’, which can heard on the station by talking about ideas, trends and innovation.  In addition, we want to contribute to the empowerment of our audience, whereby we  stand behind (but preferably next to) our target group.” 

Up-to-date and in-tune 

About their strategy for sonic branding, Hoogland says: “It is very important that the  audio design really represents what we stand for. It should be a recognisable, unique  and energetic sound.” 

“The sound of our playlist in evolving incessantly. The most important genres for us  are Hip-hop, R&B, Dutch rap, Afro, Arab, Latin, Dance and Dancehall. That’s why I’m  glad that with this update we are completely ‘in-tune’ with the latest trends. Just like  the content on all of our other channels!”

10 Nationwide Radio Stations in the Netherlands Unite for Ukraine

10 stations, 1 day, 1 cause: helping Ukraine and its people. In a massive simulcast  fundraiser on March 7th across all major radio stations in the Netherlands.  

Dutch public broadcasters NPO 3FM, NPO Radio 2 and NPO Radio 5, and privately owned 100%NL, Qmusic, Radio 10, Radio 538, Radio Veronica, SLAM! and Sublime,  are simulcasting for one day as ‘Radio 555’ with a joint network program. The station  is named after the bank account number of the united help organisations, including  Unicef and the Red Cross. Listeners can request a song in exchange for a donation  at giro555.nl.  

1 sound for 10 audiences  

Simulcasting across 10 stations, a universal sound was needed. Sublime PD Rick  Waltmann coordinates the audio branding for Radio555 and speaks about a creative  challenge. “Each station normally has its own target demo and music format; varying  from CHR to Oldies. Together we want to set the right tone, and appeal to as many  people as possible. I asked PURE Jingles if they could support our cause. Within  days, a complete package was created in which our wishes were incorporated.”  

5 x 5 x 5 jingles  

The Radio555 package symbolically consists of 5 jingle themes, each delivered in  (over) 5 versions, as well as 5 beds & drones. News, weather & traffic imaging and  sweepers are included as well. Sky Radio works with PURE Jingles for new Power Intros

The number 1 non-stop music station is Sky Radio in the Netherlands. They have  commissioned PURE Jingles to create playlist-updated Power Intros (branded  songs), which are produced in collaboration with the station’s imaging team.  

Uunco Cerfontaine, Radio Director Sky Radio: “Music is what it’s all about at Sky.  Apart from news, weather & traffic, you will not hear any presenters, but 24/7 non stop music. It is therefore extra important that we create an optimal music flow with  which we help our listeners through their busy day. Power Intros are an essential part  of this, melding a jingle and a song into one beautiful piece.”  

Time Spent Listening.  

“Studies show that sung audio logos have a major effect on the recall of a brand or  slogan and on the behaviour of a listener or consumer,” adds Thomas Giger of PURE  Jingles. “Power Intros connect a radio brand with songs that are popular within their  target audience. The UK’s Number 1 Hit Music Station, Capital, has received another massive update  from Dutch sonic branding specialist, PURE Jingles.  

Operated by the UK’s leading commercial radio company, Global, the Capital network  attracts close to 8 million listeners per week. 103.5 KTU NY New Show IDs for Carolina with Greg T in the Morning

Blasting a ‘Rhythmic Hot AC’ format from the top of the Empire State Building, KTU is The Beat of New York, spinning hit songs from core artists Ava Max, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and others. Well-known personalities such as Carolina & Greg T, Wendy Wild, Sean ‘Hollywood’ Hamilton and Lulu & Lala keep The Big Apple moving, and benchmarks such as the ‘KTUphoria’ concerts have become incredibly popular.

PURE Jingles is contributing to KTU’s on-air sound since 2014. PURE Jingles expanded their collaboration, which started with custom jingles and bespoke branded intros, into tailor-made show imaging. The perfect (jingle) mix for Sweden from PURE Jingles

Sweden’s AC radio powerhouse Mix Megapol, positioned as Den Perfekta Mixen (The  Perfect Mix), recently upgraded its package with custom jingles.  

Bauer Media is Europe’s biggest privately-owned broadcaster and Bauer Media Audio  in Sweden owns over 60% of the commercial market. Their biggest national station is  Mix Megapol, offering a variety format with music from the 80’s up to today. And the  station has not just one, but two big morning shows! 

Next to one broadcasting from the capital city Stockholm, there’s one airing from the  second-biggest city; Gothenburg. The first is hosted by Gry Forssell, well established  as one of the most popular television presenters in the country, but now primarily a  radio star after 17 years at Mix Megapol.  

She teams up with three co-hosts and a number of friends appearing on the show  regularly. All are well-known and appreciated celebrities, ranging from comedians to  artists and even politicians. The regional Gothenburg show has been on the air for 26  years, and is immensely popular on Sweden’s west coast.

Thomas Giger (sales director), Melvin Sleeking (managing director) and Pelle Kuipers  (creative director) are having a joint track record of 3 decades at PURE.
