Even a broad variety of jingles can lead to a strong identity in branding. Mix Megapol’s recent station imaging update is living proof of it.
This year, the team of Sweden’s nationwide AC station tried something new. They went for maximum diversity when choosing their themes from the JingleBox. Jingles that were originally produced for more than 5 different stations, covering a diversity of radio formats. Even including one CHR cut to throw some spice into the mix!
The creative challenge for the production team was obviously to blend it all together. First of all, they adapted all jingles with a custom logo melody (the station’s heritage identity). Then a custom vocal sound with Swedish sung lyrics was added. Finally, certain techniques in merging, mixing & mastering created coherence.
Secret sauce
“It’s the secret sauce of the JingleBox”, branding consultant Thomas Giger says on behalf of PURE Jingles. “Resulting in a package that sounds like new, only costing a fraction of full-custom production. With energy bills going through the roof, we hope this solution helps many stations get a near-custom sound for a budget-friendly fee.”
Mix Megapol and PURE Jingles are working together since 2017, and have mutually evolved the sound of this station on an ongoing, annual basis. In many cases through JingleBox productions. The heritage brand is one of Sweden’s most successful music stations, consistently ranking in the Top 5 and currently in the Top 3 nationwide. A new generation of imaging for mainstream Adult Contemporary – it’s the recent update for Oxygène, one of France’s most successful independent radio stations. They recently commissioned PURE Jingles again to create custom audio branding.
Oxygène, ‘Radio de la Seine et Marne’, is listened to by more than 300,000 people in Ile de France. It’s a family brand, focused on a core audience of young adults, mainly 25-49 year-olds. Following their massive custom package from 2021, they’ve called on PURE to create a new batch of AC jingles.
Programming strategy
Assistant program director Aurélien Descamps: “This collaboration was born from a strategic desire to have a real sound identity that can be recognised throughout the production. The proposals and advice from the PURE Jingles team helped us getting a strong sonic logo. A brand design living up to our expectations.”
“We like the exchange with the Dutch production team”, Descamps continues. “PURE Jingles is attentive to every detail. Agreeing to rework each production until the last note, so that we are fully satisfied with the result once it’s on air.” Merci, Aurélien! Nous sommes impatients de continuer à cocréer la magie de la radio!
Belgian market leader, RADIO 2, is working with BRANDY again. The station has faced its most massive makeover in over a decade. And now the station wants to reflect better being a part of the public broadcaster VRT. The station got a new slogan and wants to be connected with a more contemporary form of radio. Brandy was asked to produce an extensive jingle package including show starts, flow jingles, beds and a series of service elements.
The challenge for Radio 2 was big and probably a bold move. The addition of “VRT” to the logo means the station is embarking on a new path. Radio 2 wants to break new ground in terms of sound to improve its alignment with contemporary music production and better meet the changing expectations of the listener. The broadcaster used a European competition to find a partner who could translate these strategic choices into efficient sonic branding.
Bart De Raes, Imaging Director Radio 2: “It’s a big change. Thankfully, the whole team is very enthusiastic about the new station sound. It’s fresh and innovative while still being familiar to the listener. The most heard reaction from the Radio 2 presenters and producers is that the jingles give their programmes a fresh, cool sound. This adds a new dimension to Radio 2”.
“It is an honour for our consultants and producers to fulfil such an important assignment,” says Diederik Decraene, Managing Director at Brandy. “We know the station very well and are happy to pick up the Radio 2 thread again and support Bart and the imaging team. The result is a contemporary jingle package that fits the ear very well yet is sufficiently distinctive compared to commercial broadcasters. After all, Radio 2 was explicit about this”.
When you’re programming a Soft AC format and looking for inspiration for its sound, take a listen to Chérie Belgium! They’ve now put the cherry on the cake with custom imaging from PURE Jingles.
Part of the Belgian NGroup (Nostalgie, Nostalgie+ and NRJ), Chérie is a digital radio station launched online in 2015 and on DAB+ in 2019. It’s the cousin of Chérie FM in France with a specific strategy and positioning for the Belgian radio market.
Chill, smooth and easy-listening, Cherie’s musical programming is tailor-made for young adults between 25 and 45 who want to slow down the rushy rhythm of their lives. Reflected in their slogan Chérir la vie en Musique (Cherishing Life in Music).
Brand & format promise
“As a pop-soft format, we aim to conciliate this relaxing feeling to new music trends, which PURE Jingles has perfectly understood”, brand manager Lydwine Derny says. “It’s also very important to us that our brand & format promise is being translated through our imaging. PURE’s sound design is a huge part of our station’s identity.”
“They have worked on the basis of inspirational tracks and made very good creative propositions. The team knows very well what it’s doing, is always looking forward to feedback and deals with it fast and easily. We were also invited to attend the vocal session, which has been a great pleasure. Efficient in a relaxed atmosphere.”
From their state-of-the-art studios and headquarters in Haarlem, The Netherlands, to media devices in Europe and across the world, Top Format’s top notch production works are delivered and heard with just one purpose in mind, designing the finest audio for media companies and for listeners to enjoy.

The new Hot AC jingles for the Norwegian chain of radio stations, Lokalradioene, are now on the air.
In all Norwegian regions, this packages completes the music format and strong audio branding for Lokalradioene, in a tailored sound: completely made in house at Top Format.
And the new custom package for the biggest Regional radio station Omrop Fryslân, is also playing on air. This custom made jingle package contains over 20 main cuts.
I Love Rock ’n’ Roll! One of the songs expressing exactly what RTL 2 stands for: the best Pop-Rock of yesterday & today. They just received another batch of jingles to fit the core of the format while reinforcing a modern image.
PURE’s client relation manager Thomas Giger explains: “Playing the greatest hits of all time means that the overall music composition on the station is largely constant. Our goal is to surround these timeless classics with a sound that naturally fits the music played, but which at the same time keeps the radio station in the present. A contemporary sound creates a timeless brand – just like the music it features.”
Transitions
The general rules of radio programming apply to any radio format, so also to Pop Rock AC: “Flow remains to be a key element to achieve long Time Spent Listening, which helps maintain a strong market share. Transitioning from song to song, every segue needs to be flawless. That’s why also this update covers several transitions in tempo and/or intensity. It gives the presenters more tools to work with.”
Magic
RTL 2’s production director and assistant program director, Christian Reynaud, adds: “We work since almost 10 years now with the dedicated team of PURE Jingles. Since we began, it’s been a constant evolution of the RTL 2 colour and spirit. A wonderful co-creation. Every year, a new adventure. Always exciting, always inspiring. This new package is once again an evolution; a rebirth of our radio. It’s a Kind of Magic.”
100% NL has completely renewed its audio branding with PURE Jingles. Positive sounding AC jingles, matching ‘the best music of the Netherlands’ as the station’s positioning says.
“In order to keep up with new music trends, we want to regularly update the jingles,” says Herbert Visser. Together with Carlo de Boer, he’s managing Dutch commercial radio operator RadioCorp. “In November, PURE Jingles already contributed to the launch of our soft-pop station Sunlite. The result of that good collaboration made them the logical choice for us to also restyle our flagship.” Over 1 million listeners tune in to 100% NL every week.
Strategy “One of the most important things you hear on a station is the jingle package,” radio director Martijn Zuurveen explains. “Sound design creates the recognisability and a nice feeling that you want to listen to. Completely matching with the target group of young families that we reach. Our sonic branding supports the program & music strategy. Especially in his time, where ‘Nederpop’ (Dutch Pop) is loved.”
Result
“It is always a great and beautiful moment to renew our jingles”, radio coordinator Raoul Schram adds. He supervised the project on behalf of 100% NL. “After the initial briefing, we were able to provide suggestions for perfections. PURE Jingles handles feedback very well and has 20 years of experience. They know what they are talking about and that is a great way of working. And they always deliver quality. We now also have the best jingles in the Netherlands.”

Sweden’s AC radio powerhouse Mix Megapol, positioned as Den Perfekta Mixen (The Perfect Mix), recently upgraded its package with custom jingles.
Bauer Media is Europe’s biggest privately-owned broadcaster and Bauer Media Audio in Sweden owns over 60% of the commercial market. Their biggest national station is Mix Megapol, offering a variety format with music from the 80’s up to today. And the station has not just one, but two big morning shows!
Next to one broadcasting from the capital city Stockholm, there’s one airing from the second-biggest city; Gothenburg. The first is hosted by Gry Forssell, well established as one of the most popular television presenters in the country, but now primarily a radio star after 17 years at Mix Megapol.
She teams up with three co-hosts and a number of friends appearing on the show regularly. All are well-known and appreciated celebrities, ranging from comedians to artists and even politicians. The regional Gothenburg show has been on the air for 26 years, and is immensely popular on Sweden’s west coast.
“For Mix Megapol, it’s important that our imaging fits all the various music styles and enhances the mainstream sound. That’s has a positive, warm & modern vibe, yet not too edgy. We’ve wanted the positive sound from a jingle choir”, says Thomas Hansen, Bauer Media Audio Sweden’s production manager.
“PURE Jingles managed to get that for us. Our jingles sound warm and natural, and match the rest of our imaging perfectly. This latest package of custom jingles sounds wonderful. We’ve had quite specific ideas of how to refresh & incorporate our audio logo, which is one of the longest ever! The producers at PURE really came through.” The jingles for Mix Megapol can be found in the PURE Jingles showcase, visit www.PUREJingles.com

Edgy, punchy, and full of character – that’s the sound that BRANDY has created for VIRAGE Radio in France. The 10 custom-produced instrumental tracks make the station instantly recognizable.
Part of Espace Groupe in France, Virage Radio’s unique format combines a strong selection of rock with distinctive, unconventional electro.
The Brandy team was challenged to develop sonic branding that goes beyond the playlist and announces what the station stands for. “Virage clearly wants more than the obvious sweeps: sound effects and voice-over,” says Tom Van der Biest, Brandy’s Creative Director. “The Virage package is a catchy combination of electronic and acoustic elements. It’s edgy, recognizable and musical. Moreover, it was great to be able to sink our teeth into music that is less common in radio imaging. This out-of-the-ordinary package was really cool to produce!”
Brandy created an instrumental logo that forms the foundation for the IDs.The basic package consists of 10 tracks that can be easily adapted for other stations with a similar format and 100% personalized with the station voice. The sonic logo can be customized and is a great tool to use in liners and sweepers.

A year after its restyling, the Belgian AC station JOE has enlarged its jingle package with 6 new tracks that have been produced by BRANDY Jingles from Brussels. The package is an example of how sonic branding that fits perfectly between the biggest hits from the past 50 years also sounds current.
This summer, JOE launched a preview of the new styling. Half of the package was remixed in special summer versions of the new jingles. Along with 3 other tracks, they are now also on air in their ‘regular’ versions for the new radio season.
The jingles are a perfect addition to ‘JOE Your Greatest Hits All the Way’ – the package that went on air exactly one year ago. The energetic sound of the basic package has been expanded with several softer cuts. Moreover, the references to the music of the 80s make the package match perfectly with the vibe of today’s hits.
The 2nd commercial radio station in Dutch-speaking Belgium, JOE focuses on an adult audience and programs both recent hits and classics.
Along with Qmusic, JOE is part of the DPG Media media group, which also owns the various VTM TV stations and Het Laatste Nieuws, Belgium’s largest newspaper.

The Netherlands’ no.1 non-stop music station, Sky Radio, has launched their brand new station sound, teaming up once again with Wisebuddah.
The Talpa owned station commissioned a package made up of 14 new bespoke station IDs, plus new Top of the Hour sequences and sings for tailored Sky Radio programming, including Sky Love Songs.
Extending their long-running partnership, the new package is the most expansive station-wide jingle overhaul for Sky Radio since 2017; which was also created by Wisebuddah.
Wisebuddah Composer, Marc Vickers, added: “It’s always an honour to work with the team at Sky Radio. Their vision is always clear, to walk the line between innovation and retaining the familiar melody and positivity that Sky Radio is famous for. It was a hugely enjoyable project, and hopefully we have achieved this again for 2021.”
Wisebuddah’s Managing Director, Phil Tozer, added: “Sky Radio is quite rightly known as the feel-good station, and this is a package that feels like the perfect handshake between that sentiment and an equally feel-good sound. Bright, poppy music and vocals to match, it’s another chapter in our collaboration with Sky Radio that we can’t wait to hear on air. ”
Sky Radio’s Station Director, Uunco Cerfontaine, added: “It is always a great pleasure to work with Marc Vickers and our in-house production team to produce the perfect jingle package for our station. This new jingle package expresses exactly where Sky Radio stands for; The Feel Good Station that plays non-stop music with a Modern AC format. And because we are a non-stop music station the jingles are essential to give the station it’s personality and keeps the music flow going”.

Metropolitan, recognizable, and positive – that’s how you can describe Metropolys’ sonic identity. The 6 new Brandy jingles make the station’s imaging 100% up to date. The tracks were selected from the Kick catalogue, which is constantly being expanded and forms the basis for the branding of radio stations around the world.
Brandy Jingles has been Metropolys’ (France) imaging partner for 12 years now. The station draws the basis of its styling from the Kick series – Brandy’s most extensive catalogue of contemporary, musical jingles that also fit into a wide-spanning playlist. And that last advantage is precisely one of the hallmarks of Metropolys, which programs both current hits as well as classics from Kool & the Gang or Depeche Mode.
Metropolys prefers distinctly female vocals that give the station instant recognisability and distinguishes it from its colleagues.
Metropolys serves the north of France (les Hauts de la France) with a one-of-a-kind musical format that is a mix of recent hits and an exquisite selection of groovy classics from the past 30 years. The station is the market leader among independent radio stations in the metropolitan area of Lille.
One of Germany’s most listened to stations SWR1 has commissioned a brand-new sound from London’s Wisebuddah.
The SWR1 brand, which has individual stations for each state of Baden-Württemberg and Rheinland-Pfalz (broadcasting from Stuttgart and Mainz respectively), attracts nearly two million listeners per day, and plays the greatest pop and rock hits from the last 40 years – with a particular focus on the 80s.
The new Wisebuddah package is a complete overhaul of SWR1’s previous sound and features close to 50 bespoke compositions – comprising an abundant 30 Transition IDs, along with brand-new Show Openers and a full Information Suite.
Regina Beck, Head of SWR1 Baden-Württemberg & Prof. Roland Welling, Head of SWR1 Rheinland-Pfalz, said: “The sound design fits like a perfect English tailor-made suit for SWR1. The compositions are modern, contemporary and absolutely coherent! We are thrilled with the creative, professional and uncomplicated collaboration with Wisebuddah”.
Wisebuddah’s Managing Director, Phil Tozer, said: “This has been one of the most expansive projects we have ever undertaken, so watching it all fall into place has been really rewarding. The recording landscape has changed significantly since our first meeting back in 2019, so I’m proud of how the entire team has adapted to deliver a comprehensive new sound alongside the super-talented team at SWR1.”Check out the Wisebuddah website featuring this package and many more (including work for BBC Radio 1 (UK), Radio 538 (Netherlands) and Fun Radio (France) at www.wisebuddah.com.

JOE ALL THE WAY: GREATEST IMAGING FOR THE GREATEST HITS
The Belgian AC station JOE sounds brand new. BRANDY Jingles (Brussels) created the sonic branding: an extensive jingle package that builds on the ‘Joe All the Way’ musical theme while reflecting Joe’s musical promise ‘Your Greatest Hits’ even better than before. The result is a contemporary package that fits with the greatest hits of the past 50 years, but, at the same time, makes a strong connection to the sound of today.
The sound that Brandy has created for Joe breathes positivity and goes with the station’s very wide and eclectic selection of musical styles: rock by the Stones to disco by the Bee Gees, new wave by The Cure to Latino pop by Shakira, ballads by Céline Dion to electro dance by Daft Punk, to the hits from today’s charts.
“The contemporary touch was very important in the production,” says Tom Van der Biest, Creative Director at Brandy. “Joe plays a lot of classics but chooses to sound like a station that is very close to what is happening right here and now. In addition, the jingles give the station its own unique and instantly recognizable sound. That’s sonic radio branding at its very best.”

“As part of our commitment to supporting the communities where Amazon employees live and work, we are proud to partner with Radio Kiss Kiss for this special initiative in support of the digitization of Italian schools,” said Gabriele Sigismondi, Amazon CEO Logistics in Italy. “In this way we hope to wish all the students of the schools involved a happy return to class. In recent months, we have carried out several projects to offer innovative solutions to support teachers and students who have suddenly had to try their hand at the world of distance learning “.
Lucia Niespolo, president of the Board of Cn Media (Radio Kiss Kiss) commented: “We are happy that Amazon has readily accepted our invitation to this project linked to the purchase of our summer compilation, the Kiss Kiss Play Summer 2020. Radio Kiss Kiss like Amazon, it knows how important it is to invest in the training of young people and the digitalization of the Italian school. A school in step with the times, smart and digital, is a goal to be achieved in the shortest possible time, we project ourselves into the school of the future, for this reason, before the start of the school year, together with our Amazon friends we will deliver three Italian schools 3 Stem laboratories that will allow the teaching staff of the respective 3 schools to improve distance learning with their students.
The drivers of the delivery service providers, with the support of the Radio Kiss Kiss speakers, will soon leave for the three institutes located in three secret locations that will be revealed in the coming weeks. All updates on the project will be published in the next few days on the social channels of Amazon.it and Radio Kiss Kiss.
This initiative develops within a wider commitment undertaken by Amazon to support the communities in which its employees live and work, thanks to the activity of the Amazon territorial committees in the community. For example, during the health crisis Amazon has carried out numerous projects to support bodies, institutions and organizations on the front lines in the fight against Covid-19, such as the Civil Protection, the Italian Red Cross and the Food Bank of Lombardy. In addition, during the lockdown, Amazon organized free webinars related to Stem issues dedicated to teachers from all over Italy, to provide them with innovative tools to be used in distance learning.
Amazon’s commitment to training and the dissemination of technological knowledge also includes the ‘Amazon Innovation Award’ initiative: launched in 2016, the contest involves three of the most prestigious Italian universities, the Politecnico di Milano, the Politecnico di Torino and the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and invites students to propose innovative ideas to optimize Amazon’s logistics activities. Starting from last year, some European universities can also participate in the Amazon Innovation Awards.
