K-Hits 107.5 first aired on August 10, 1996.

Legally known as KWMX, the Lakewood-Denver station ran jingles from JAM Creative Production.

The cuts were syndicated from the Hit Power package for KKFR Power 92 Glendale, Phoenix.

A YouTube video posted by channel owner therobz uploaded an aircheck of the station’s launch in 1996.

“The station didn’t make a dent due to poor marketing and programming as well as Modern AC Alice@105.9 and Rhythmic CHR KS104 splitting the CHR audience.”

“At that point, Denver hadn’t had a Mainstream CHR since Y108 (KWMX’s predecessor) flipped in 1991. About six months later, Jefferson Pilot (K-Hits then-owner) purchased KQKS and moved their format over to 107.5.” — Robyn Watts.
