Quang Nam Radio Triumphs at the 42nd National Television Festival

Quang Nam,Vietnam. The 42nd National Television Festival brought together an impressive 734 entries from 100 units and over 1,000 journalists across Vietnam, celebrating the art of broadcasting. The festival showcased 11 categories, ranging from children’s programs and documentaries to short reports, science and education programs, and digital platform videos. Alongside the awards, the event featured remarkable activities like an exhibition of television technology and a photo exhibition of television professionals.
Quang Nam Radio and Television Station stood out, contributing five works across various categories, including documentaries, features, short reports, ethnic language features, and science and education features. Their exceptional work earned them two Gold Awards: “A Song Ba – One Heart Following the Party” in the reportage category by authors Bui Tan Sy and Nguyen Phuc Lam, and “Pham Phu Thu – Portrait of a Reformer” in the science and education feature category by Duy Hien, Quoc Hoc, and Nghieu Duc.
Journalist Nguyen Kim Son, Deputy Director of Quang Nam Radio and Television Station, shared the challenges faced in creating these compelling entries. Despite obstacles, the station’s commitment to highlighting Quang Nam’s unique stories shone through. One such story, “A Song Ba – One Heart Following the Party,” narrated the inspiring journey of A Song Ba, a 75-year-old Party member of the Gie Trieng ethnic community, whose dedication to his village and people has left a lasting legacy.
In contrast, the science feature “Pham Phu Thu – Portrait of a Reformer” explored the visionary reforms proposed by the mandarin Pham Phu Thu during the 19th century. Although his innovative policies did not fully succeed in their time, his ideas on education, technology, and diplomacy remain relevant and continue to inspire progress.
This year marked Quang Nam Radio and Television Station’s most successful festival yet, securing four awards out of five entries, including two Gold and two Encouragement Awards. Journalist Nguyen Kim Son expressed excitement about future opportunities to train and develop new topics for upcoming festivals.
At the festival’s closing ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh lauded the diversity and humanity of this year’s entries. The Prime Minister also commended the official launch of Vietnam Television’s big data-driven system for analyzing viewer data, highlighting the industry’s strides in digital innovation and its commitment to serving audiences with accuracy and relevance.
With 54 Gold prizes, 98 Silver prizes, and 223 Encouragement prizes awarded, the festival not only celebrated excellence but also fostered collaboration among television units. It proved to be a vital platform for sharing experiences and elevating the quality of Vietnamese broadcasting.
