Virgin Radio 95.3 Vancouver is among the 12 remaining Virgin-branded radio stations in the world. CKZZ FM embraced the new station brand in January 8, 2009, the third re-branding since the station opened in May 23, 1991.

CKZZ first went on air in May 1991 as a dance music station.

A new owner took over in 1995 and flipped the format to CHR, thus born, Z95.3 – Today’s Best Music.

The station syndicated the Kiss Boston 2003 package from Reelworld for their station imaging.

Z95.3 became a hot ac station in 2004 with a new slogan “Zed Ninety-Five Three, Your Music Your Zed, with the Best of the 80s, 90s and Now”.

In 2007, CKZZ officially dropped its hot adult contemporary format and its 12-year old brand Z95.3 to become 95 Craze FM – a rhythmic AC format. It only lasted for two years.

And in 2009, Virgin Radio 95.3 FM Vancouver launched. Wise Buddah helped create the station sound with custom jingles.
