CFUN is the new Sonic Hits Now, which launched August 17, 2011.

The station covers 107.5 Chilliwack, 92.5 Abbotsford, and 104.9 in Vancouver.

The station’s debut stunt included a promise to play 10,000 songs in a row and a vow to offer listeners, more music and fewer commercials.

“SONiC speaks to a younger audience and represents a commitment to the next generation of listeners who will help grow the future of radio in our markets,” said Geoff Poulton, Vice-President and General Manager, Rogers Radio, British Columbia. “There is a huge appetite for new music, and this format will better serve listeners in our communities.”

CFUN started operations in 1986 as CKSR Star FM 105.

It underwent numerous format flips and ownership changes, most notable of which is its transition to Clear FM between 2003-2008, FM 104.9 The Greatest Hits of All Time between 2008-2009, 104.9 FUN FM, Vancouver’s Greatest Hits in 2009-2011.
