BBC Radio Scotland gets new sound from ReelWorld

As Scotland celebrates St Andrew’s Day ReelWorld is toasting the launch of a new music and audio branding package for BBC Radio Scotland.

The comprehensive package from the MediaCityUK based production company features the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra recorded in a session at Glasgow City Halls earlier this year.

BBC Radio Scotland is entering its 40th year of broadcasting and the station needed a fresh feel to the output with enough depth to cover all programming.

The creative contains over 20 original compositions, a diverse range of daytime and utility themes alongside specialist programming idents, designed to reflect the broad output of the station. The music also features a brand new 8 note sonic logo.

ReelWorld Managing Director Anthony Gay: “Creating the new sound for BBC Radio Scotland has been a highlight of our year. Balancing the rich heritage of the station alongside the search for a more contemporary sound was a challenge we relished. We’re delighted to hear it go to air.”

The new branding celebrates the diversity and strong personalities heard across the station’s output and incorporates themes for the Jazz, Folk and Country shows as well as idents for comedy and historical programming.

Last year ReelWorld created a new sound for Norway’s biggest radio station, NRK P1, which also featured a symphony orchestra.
